STARTING THERAPY

First time considering therapy? Therapy (or counseling) is one of the most personal and profound experiences to have in life. So the fit of your therapist’s personality, specific expertise, and general “click” with you are key.

If you’re brand new to therapy, you can expect during your first session with me some helpful explanations of the process and answering any questions you have– because therapy is a very unique experience (and perhaps a little odd at the start!). Then after reviewing paperwork we start getting to know more about your therapy goals and personal history. The therapy relationship grows over time, like any other, into greater understanding and trust. I’d love to talk with you about how we might fit for each other. See how above! ^

RATES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
45/50-minute session $180 by cash, check, credit, or HSA/FSA

ADJUSTED FEE OPTIONS
Therapeutic support should be accessible. I maintain a set number of adjusted fee slots and a small number of pro-bono cases (pro-bono is generally for former/current refugee clients). We can discuss the availability and fit of these during the free phone consultation.

INSURANCE
I do not accept health insurance. Many professional clients prefer this as it prevents a mandatory diagnosis from being listed with their insurer.
Depending on your plan, your insurance company might reimburse our visits, partially or fully, through out-of-network benefits. Contact your insurance company to ask about reimbursement for “out-of-network behavioral health” so we can further discuss. I can provide receipts/superbills for this if agreed upon prior to starting therapy.
Please note I am not paneled with Medicaid so cannot see Medicaid patients.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATES
Under federal law enacted January 1, 2022, all clients are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the costs of mental health services. Learn more here.

GIVING BACK
I donate a portion of my practice’s annual earnings to local and international organizations working toward improving our world’s human rights and justices, environmental safety, journalistic safety, earth and animal protections, and the like.
